Mediacorp renews contract with Carrie Wong as it ramps up regional opportunities for its artistes
For immediate release
Singapore, 8 November 2018 – Mediacorp’s The Celebrity Agency (TCA) is pleased to announce its recontract with actress Carrie Wong (黄思恬), as an affirmation of its commitment to cultivate young and promising talent for the Singaporean entertainment scene and beyond.
Fans can catch Carrie headlining two upcoming productions, starting with her portrayal of a plucky bus operator in Hello Miss Driver 《下一站，遇见》, a drama series slated for telecast on Channel 8 in April 2019.
“I’m grateful for the experience I’ve gleaned from working with my Mediacorp family for the past four years and counting,” said Carrie. “Given the renewal of my contract, I’m optimistic about what the future holds for my professional progression.”
In congratulating Carrie, TCA also emphasised its efforts to escalate the regional recognition of all its artistes, with international co-productions set to become increasingly important avenues for exposure.
“Our collaboration with Hong Kong's ViuTV in this year’s Toggle Originals thriller Bluetick 《已读不回》introduced Mediacorp luminaries like Desmond Tan (陈泂江), Ya Hui (雅慧) and Jeffrey Xu (徐鸣杰) to an entirely new faction of fans,” said Ivy Low, Head of TCA. “We’re thrilled to tease a new tie-up with Taiwan Television starring several Singaporean fan favourites, so watch this space.”
Said Ms Low, “We also want to accommodate artistes in pursuing their personal passions. Co-management contracts, such as TCA’s deal with China’s LongAllStar Entertainment Group for Richie Koh (许瑞奇), allow for flexibility and a gateway to global growth.”
Recent breakthroughs include Pierre Png’s (方展发) high-profile Hollywood debut in the Warner Bros. Pictures blockbuster film Crazy Rich Asians (2018), as well as Rebecca Lim’s (林慧玲) leading role in Viu Malaysia’s adaptation of the acclaimed Scandinavian noir crime series The Bridge, set to air on HBO Asia from 26 November 2018.
Added Ms Low, “Carrie's career trajectory demonstrates Mediacorp's preeminence as a platform for incubating talent in Singapore. Viewers can look forward to seeing our artistes in an exciting array of entertainment programmes, as we continue to groom each of them to showcase and perfect their particular strengths.”
